
Lead Sustainability Data Scientist

If so, then you might be our new Lead Sustainability Data scientist working as part of the Sustainability Data Solutions and AI Team at Novo Nordisk.
The position
We offer an exciting and challenging role where you will play a significant part in tackling sustainability challenges through data and AI. A key focus will be on identifying, establishing and maintaining accurate data from source-system to final data metrics. The aim is to ensure timely sustainability reporting, delivery of data products and develop our forecasts. In this role, you will play an important role in optimizing the overall data process from the collection of data and all the way to turning it into relevant products.
The position will be working across various departments in and outside sustainability thus, working at the intersection of sustainability and technology, ensuring the development of data analytics and providing decision support. To succeed in this, you can apply a highly structured working approach while collaborating with a wide variety of stakeholders globally and across the business
As part of the Sustainability Data and AI team, your main responsibilities will be to:
- Deliver the technical forecasting solution for sustainability, combining commercial data with capacity plans, supply chain and procurement data, and others
- Collect data from various source systems, sometimes manual, and identify potential optimisations e.g. digitalisation, AI, etc.
- Deliver full End-2-End analytics from business requirement to data source/availability to end product (e.g. front end or model)
- Set direction for the application of advanced analytics such as machine learning, predictive modelling and AI models within related to sustainability
Qualifications
You are structured with a strong business understanding from a corporate setting or consultancy and proven data and digital skills. You can open doors, challenge status quo and build business sound analytics. You thrive in a high-paced environment where not everything is a straight line.
The right candidate should have the following skills:
- Proven track record (+5 years) of preparing, analysing and designing data for analytical purposes in the space of sustainability or data science within a corporate setting or consultancy
- A degree in Management, Engineering, Data science or Sustainability with strong data acumen
- Profound user experience in BI solutions such as Microsoft Power Suite, Tableau or similar.
- At the forefront of understanding and applying AI
- Experience in data analytics or engineering through self-service analytics such as Alteryx and able to work in coding languages e.g. Python, Julia or others. Experience working with solutions such as Databricks, Snowflake or Haystack is a plus but not a pre-requisite
- Some prior experience working with sustainability analytics, reporting or modelling will be an advantage
- Good communication skills

You are ambitious and naturally focused on your deliverable. You bring the ability to deep dive into models and also to communicate with those with less technical insight than you. Finally, you have strong communication skills, both oral and written English. The ideal candidate excels at building and maintaining strong relationships with a wide range of stakeholders across different functions.
About the department
The Sustainability Data Solutions and AI team is part of the Sustainability Strategy and Insights Department in Novo Nordisk. The team consists of highly skilled data analysts and data engineers as well as business analysts who drive data analytics on the sustainability agenda on behalf of Novo Nordisk. The Department is currently consisting of 7 people in HQ, 2 colleagues in Poland and 2 colleagues in Bangalore, India. We work closely with stakeholders across Novo Nordisk to implement the sustainability strategy across our entire value chain.

Salary: For this role, the Annual Base Salary ranges from 742,600DKK to 1,091,600DKK, corresponding to the level of the position.
The placement within the salary range will be assessed during the recruitment process based on the candidate’s skills, competencies, knowledge, and relevant experience.
Incentives and Benefits: The salary package may include short-term and/or long-term incentives as well as other employee benefits based on position level, location, functional area and relevant market benchmarks.
