EU Lead MSL

This MSL Team Lead Player Coach plays a dual role with the responsibilities of a traditional Medical Science Liaison (MSL) and with those of a Team Lead. The MSL Team Lead (Player-Coach)  will manage day-to-day MSL responsibilities within an assigned territory while also providing leadership, guidance, and support to other MSLs on the team. Reporting to the Director of MSLs, the MSL Team Lead  will play an integral role in ensuring the success of the MSL team by fostering collaboration, maintaining high scientific standards, and supporting organizational strategies.

This role is pivotal in building and maintaining relationships with healthcare professionals, gathering valuable scientific insights, and supporting the dissemination of non-promotional medical and scientific information. Other duties as needed specific to each client assignment. The role will also act as a resource and role model for the MSL team, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and fostering professional development.

Key Responsibilities

MSL team leadership and coaching

  • Serve as a coach, mentor, and leader for the MSL team, providing guidance and support to ensure individual and team success.
  • Collaborate with the Client Director of MSLs to develop and execute the overall MSL strategy, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives.
  • Act as a resource for team members, supporting their professional growth and addressing challenges as they arise.
  • Model best practices in MSL field activities, compliance, and stakeholder engagement.

Medical Science Liaison Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain trusted relationships with healthcare professionals, key opinion leaders (KOLs), clinical investigators, and other stakeholders in your region.
  • Share non-promotional, scientifically accurate medical information to support understanding of disease states and therapeutic options within the assigned therapeutic areas.
  • Gather and report scientific insights from the field to inform cross-functional teams and support organizational decision-making.
  • Represent the organization at scientific meetings, conferences, and advisory boards as needed.
  • Scientific and Strategic Support
  • Serve as a subject matter expert within assigned therapeutic areas, staying current with relevant scientific literature, clinical guidelines, and advancements.
  • Provide input and support for strategic initiatives across Medical Affairs, Clinical Development, and other internal teams.
  • Act as a liaison between internal teams and external stakeholders to support scientific exchange and collaboration.
  • Compliance and Professional Standards
  • Operate with the highest ethical and professional standards, adhering to all applicable laws, regulations, and organizational policies.
  • Ensure that all MSL activities are conducted in compliance with relevant guidelines and regulations.

Scientific and Strategic Support

  • Serve as a subject matter expert within assigned therapeutic areas, staying current with relevant scientific literature, clinical guidelines, and advancements.

Compliance and Professional Standards

  • Operate with the highest ethical and professional standards, adhering to all applicable laws, regulations, and organizational policies.
  • Ensure that all MSL activities are conducted in compliance with relevant guidelines and regulations.

Qualifications

  • Advanced degree (e.g., Ph.D., PharmD, M.D)  from an accredited institution desired; a Master's or a bachelor’s degree with a medical credential may be considered.
  • A minimum of 5 years’ Medical Science Liaison (MSL), Clinical Trial Liaison  (CTL) experience desired, 8+years a plus
  • Prior experience coaching, mentoring or leading CTL/ MSLs preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of clinical and scientific principles across oncology therapeutic area; experience in nuclear oncology, radioligand therapies and solid tumours is a plus.
  • Strong knowledge of EU regulations, policies, limitations, and codes of conduct (e.g. in UK, Germany, France, Italy, and Spain) . Broad global experience is a plus.
  • Familiarity with clinical trial processes and the ability to provide general support to clinical research initiatives.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to present scientific information clearly and concisely.
  • Proven ability to build and maintain relationships with healthcare professionals and key opinion leaders.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills, with a results-oriented mindset.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
  • Willingness to travel within the assigned region as needed.
  • Excellent technology skills e.g. PowerPoint, Excel, digital meeting platforms
