Associate Principal Scientist - Biology & Assays (all genders)

As an Associate Principal Scientist Biology & Assays (all genders) , you will work on innovative drug discovery projects and be an active member of highly interdisciplinary and cross-organizational research teams. With your expertise in biochemistry and cell biology, you will develop and implement tailored assay systems for data-driven decision-making. You will analyze key scientific questions in projects, create strategies and assays to link targets and modalities, and contribute to solving complex biological questions. Thanks to your experience and strategic thinking, you will make a crucial contribution to advancing research – driving medical progress and serving patients.

YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • You will contribute to drug discovery projects as an active member of interdisciplinary and cross-organizational teams

  • You will supervise and mentor lab associates, interns, and postdocs to drive innovative scientific projects

  • You leverage your experience in multiplex ELISA, (high-throughput) flow-cytometry & FACS read-outs contributing to critical insights to project advancement
  • By assessing key scientific questions, you will develop fit-to-purpose biological assays that enable data-driven decision-making

  • Drawing on your expertise, you will define strategies that link targets to modalities and establish assay systems to probe target biology

  • You will collaborate with disease biologists, modality experts, drug discovery scientists, and computational biologists to address complex biological questions using state-of-the-art methods

  • Staying up to date with advances in assay development and drug discovery technologies will be essential, including scouting innovations with external partners

  • You will share scientific insights through publications and presentations at international conferences

  • You will foster a culture of innovation, curiosity, and scientific excellence within the team

WHO YOU ARE

  • You hold a PhD in Biology, Biochemistry, or a related field, supported by postdoctoral training in academia or industry

  • Your expertise lies in biochemical and cell biological assay development, applied to complex biological problems in drug discovery

  • Additionally, you are experienced in flow cytometry, ideally in a high-throughput set-up
  • You bring hands-on experience in cell and molecular biology, lab automation, and cell line engineering

  • You are familiar with a broad range of therapeutic modalities to address different biological targets

  • As a digitally fluent scientist, you collaborate effectively with computational biologists and data scientists

  • You stand out with a strategic mindset, scientific curiosity, and a strong drive to improve patients’ lives

  • Your excellent verbal and written English skills allow you to work across functions and within external collaborations

  • You enjoy contributing to a dynamic, interdisciplinary, and purpose-driven research environment

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

This is a fixed-term contract for 24 months.
