Principal Quantitative Geneticist (all genders)

As Principal Quantitative Geneticist (all genders), you will play a key role in developing and implementing innovative quantitative genetics solutions within the Product Design pipeline. You are responsible for the technical strategy, optimizing breeding programs, and implementing new technologies to enhance genetic gain and product performance. This position is part of an international team, working closely with colleagues from various regions to drive innovation in Precision Breeding.

YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • You will provide technical leadership to develop and implement quantitative genetics innovations in the Product Design pipeline
  • You will execute the technical strategy to design improved cohorts of germplasm aligned with Product Concept targets, from initial crossing through handoff to Product Development
  • You will support projects on the implementation of Precision Breeding technical innovations in Product Design
  • You will contribute your expertise in coding, developing, and utilizing models, algorithms, and systems for breeding program design, goal definition, optimization of automated crossing processes, genetic evaluation, and large-scale data acquisition
  • You will identify opportunities for new technology implementation and process improvement, fostering a collaborative, innovative, and design-centric culture
  • You will contribute to multi-functional teams within Product Design and partner with colleagues in other world regions (LATAM, EMEA, APAC) to support innovation projects for Precision Breeding
  • You will help drive genetic gain and product performance in at least one crop through enhanced quantitative genetics development and deployment
  • You will support Health, Safety & Environment, Compliance, Business Conduct, and Human Rights policies and culture at the site

WHO YOU ARE

  • You hold a PhD in Quantitative Genetics, Plant or Animal Breeding, or a related scientific field with long-term relevant experience, or an MS degree with extensive experience in developing quantitative genetics methods for breeding programs
  • You have demonstrated experience working collaboratively in cross-functional and cross-cultural teams
  • You stand out with your ability to lead and influence activities of teams without direct reporting relationships
  • You are able to lead and influence key stakeholders through challenges and opportunities, facilitating solutions
  • You are results-oriented and able to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously
  • You bring experience in analyzing large biological datasets, quantitative and statistical genetics, and coding in C, Fortran, or similar languages
  • You have a proven track record and long-term experience in applying quantitative genetics theory, coding, and delivering and utilizing models, algorithms, and systems for breeding program design, goal definition, genomic evaluation, model development and validation using large datasets, and optimization of data acquisition in plant or animal breeding programs
  • Excellent English language skills, both written and spoken, round off your profile
