Senior Scientist Cardiomyocyte Disease Modeling (all Genders)

YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Culturing, expanding and genetically editing hIPSCs is one of your main responsibilities
  • You differentiate hIPSC to high-quality cardiomyocytes suitable for functional characterization
  • You are responsible for disease modelling in 2D and 3D in vitro model systems (FlexCyte, Maestro, DiNAQUBE)
  • You take over molecular characterization of cardiomyocytes / 3D model systems with means of high content screening and other technologies
  • You actively support lab miniaturization and automation processes through adaptation of liquid handling protocolsYou analyze data and prepare experimental reports in alignment with Good Research Practice You present results in project teams and scientific focus groups
  • You work collaboratively in an interdisciplinary team and share your technical know-how with students, interns and technical staff

WHO YOU ARE

  • You have a Master’s degree in Life Sciences (e.g., Biology, Biochemistry, Biophysics, Bioengineering) with several years of relevant industry experience, or a PhD in one of these fields – ideally with initial exposure to a professional laboratory environment, such as the life sciences industry, pharmaceutical or biotech sector, or a strong academic research background
  • You have profound experience in cell biology with demonstrated experience in handling hIPSC cells with specialist knowledge in handling cardiomyocytes
  • You bring good knowledge about functional genomic technologies (e.g. CRISPR, siRNA) and are experienced with Microscopy or High Content Screening technologies; experience in functional cardiomyocyte characterization is a plus (e.g. contractility measurements)
  • Experience in handling miniaturized assays (384 well plates) and lab automation is a plus
  • You have the strong wish to establish and optimize new analytical technologies hands-on in the lab
  • Good communication and presentation skills as well as the ability to work in a cross-functional international team round off your skillset
  • You are fluent in English, both verbal and written; German  language skills are a plus

This is a fixed-term position for 12 months and is being filled as a parental leave replacement.
