Senior/Principal Scientist Pharmacometrics AIMPACT

The Position

Join our dynamic Pharmacometrics AIMPACT (AI, infrastructure and ML for PMx analyses and non-/clinical data) team. This interface role drives the development, implementation, optimization, and maintenance of solutions that support Clinical Pharmacology and PMx.

Reporting to the Head of PMx Infrastructure and Technologies, this role combines strategic product ownership, analytical leadership and project delivery in the domains of PMx tools, workflows and model-informed drug development (MIDD).

This role can be filled in Biberach or Ingelheim.
This position can be filled either as Senior Scientist or Principal Scientist.
This position is part time eligible with min. 80 %.

Tasks & responsibilities

  • In your new role, you will define and maintain the product vision and roadmap for PMx analysis platforms and modelling tools, including AI‑enabled components, ensuring they meet the needs of pharmacometricians and clinical pharmacologists.
  • Furthermore, in regard to PMx systems, you will assume the Business System Lead role, overseeing planning, development, testing, implementation, operation, maintenance and change management across the full system lifecycle.
  • You will contribute to IT product ownership for PMx tools and platforms, translating scientific and operational requirements into robust, GCP-compliant and user‑centric digital solutions.
  • Additionally, you will evaluate and support the implementation of advanced PMx methodologies such as Bayesian estimation, simulation workflows, reproducibility frameworks or model repositories.
  • Moreover, you will optimize and harmonize PMx workflows and processes, working closely with empirical and mechanistic modelling subject matter experts to ensure high scientific, operational and quality standards.
  • You will also drive the standardization, automation and digitalization of PMx workflows, including compliant and reproducible analysis frameworks, pipeline tools, traceability improvements, version‑control practices and cloud‑based analysis solutions.

Additional tasks for Principal Level

  • In addition, you will lead infrastructure- or AI-focused innovation within PMx, advancing methodological frameworks such as simulation engines, model repositories, automated quality control and reproducibility or traceability concepts to shape long‑term digital capabilities.
  • You will drive the evolution, governance and lifecycle management of PMx analysis platforms, acting as IT product owner and steering cross‑functional initiatives on infrastructure, technology and enterprise digital strategy.

Requirements

  • PhD in Pharmacometrics, Data Sciences or related disciplines, or Master’s degree in a relevant field with several years of experience
  • Few years of experience in working in a scientific, clinical or pharmaceutical development environment. Hands-on experience with population pharmacokinetic (PopPK), pharmacokinetic-pharmacodynamic (PKPD), physiologically-based pharmacokinetic (PBPK), physiologically-based biopharmaceutics (PBBM), or quantitative systems pharmacology (QSP) modelling is a plus
  • First experience in supporting modelling workflows through standardization, automation, or digitalization projects (e.g., model repositories, pipeline tools, reproducibility frameworks). Additional experience in generative AI or machine learning applications in clinical drug development is a plus
  • First experience in IT product ownership within a clinical development environment and the ability to translate scientific and operational requirements into robust GCP-compliant technical solutions would be beneficial
  • Few years of experience in project management, excellent communication and organizational skills to act within a multidisciplinary, global and complex setting.
  • Fluency in English, spoken and written.

Additional requirements for Principal Level

  • Several years of experience advancing (AI‑ or ML‑enabled) pharmacometric methodologies, such as developing or implementing Bayesian estimation approaches, simulation workflows, reproducibility frameworks, or model repositories that elevate modelling quality and scientific decision‑making, OR
  • Several years of experience leading the evolution, governance, and lifecycle management of PMx analysis platforms, including IT product ownership, workflow optimization, and driving cross‑functional initiatives on infrastructure or technology topics within clinical development.
