Sales Manager (m/f/d) HIV (South)

The Position

As Sales Manager HIV, you will hold end‑to‑end leadership responsibility for a strategically important sales region. You will lead a team of experienced Therapeutic Specialists and play a critical role in driving commercial success while shaping leadership capabilities and organizational impact within the HIV Business Unit in Germany.

This role reports directly to the Business Unit Director HIV and represents a key leadership position with strong visibility and future development potential within the organization.

Key responsibilities

  • Full disciplinary, strategic and performance responsibility for a regional HIV sales organization, including results delivery, forecasting, resource planning and budget ownership
  • Translate national HIV strategy into clear regional priorities and executional excellence in a complex and highly competitive market
  • Lead, coach and develop a senior sales team with a strong focus on accountability, continuous performance improvement and leadership capability building
  • Drive data driven decision making, leveraging market, customer and performance insights to shape impactful regional engagement strategies
  • Utilize high level of business acumen in analyzing and acting upon industry trends and competitor’s strategies.
  • Navigate ambiguity, market dynamics and organizational change with resilience, sound judgment and executional rigor
  • Act as a senior sparring partner to cross functional stakeholders (esp. Marketing, Medical, Market Access) and contribute to integrated customer strategies
  • Enable and foster continuous collaboration across relevant customer facing field teams within the sales region
  • Drives strong collaboration and mutual alignment on strategic imperatives and operational excellence within the HIV sales leadership team
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with key external stakeholders, including regional and national opinion leaders
  • Represent Gilead confidently at scientific, professional and commercial events
  • Foster a performance oriented, inclusive and learning driven culture aligned with Gilead's leadership expectations and values
  • Identify, establish and meet the future developmental needs of the sales team.
  • Foster a mindset of continuous improvement, learning and innovation within the team

Essential experience and qualifications

  • Min. 3 years of proven experience with full disciplinary responsibility for pharmaceutical field teams (regional or higher level)
  • Background in scientifically complex, specialist or highly competitive therapeutic areas; experience in HIV or virology is strongly preferred
  • Familiar with industry trends and remains current with competitor’s practices
  • Demonstrated ability to develop, own and drive commercial strategy, target setting, budget management and organizational effectiveness
  • Excellent management skills including training, coaching, performance management, planning, prioritization, objective setting, recruitment and selection, meeting management and plan execution
  • High willingness to shape HIV sales strategy and executional excellence with peers in HIV sales leadership team
  • Strong commercial and strategic acumen with a track record of delivering sustainable results
  • Proven experience in account planning and cross functional account management approach
  • High degree of resilience, adaptability and decision‑making capability in fast‑changing and ambiguous environments
  • Excellent analytical skills with the ability to translate complex data into clear strategic direction
  • High interest in application of innovative technologies (e.g. AI in sales) and sales tools (e.g. NBA)
  • Outstanding communication, influencing and stakeholder‑management skills across hierarchical levels
  • Fluent German and English (written and spoken)
  • Willingness to travel in line with business needs (min. 60% time in field)
  • Qualification according to §75 AMG (“Pharmareferent”)
  • Ability to develop and utilize a high level of product and therapeutic disease knowledge to promote the appropriate use of Gilead products to Key Opinion Leaders.
  • University degree (BA/BSc or higher), preferably in science or business‑related disciplines
