We are seeking a highly motivated lab-based Tissue Omics Principal Scientist (m/f/d) with extensive expertise in cutting-edge spatial and single-cell technologies to lead the development and application of multiomics profiling approaches, pushing the boundaries of human immunology and tissue biology. The candidate will play a key role in contextualizing complex datasets by utilizing advanced analytical methods, including AI/ML tools, to generate novel insights into the mechanisms underlying human diseases.

This role requires a strong background in profiling human diseases, hands-on expertise with single-cell and spatial omics platforms (with a particular emphasis on spatial proteomics), experience in histological techniques, and exceptional analytical skills to drive data interpretation and generate meaningful insights.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead experimental design and apply advanced technologies, including multiplex protein and RNA imaging, single-cell platforms, and histology readouts, to comprehensively profile patient biospecimens.
  • Develop and implement automated workflows to enhance efficiency in sample processing and metadata collection.
  • Effectively communicate complex analytical findings and their broader implications to diverse internal and external stakeholders through clear and impactful data presentations.
  • Collaborate closely with biology, analytical and clinical teams to integrate disease profiling data into larger research initiatives, enabling actionable insights and translational outcomes.
  • Drive innovation by continuously evaluating, optimizing, and adopting cutting-edge technologies to advance research capabilities.


Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. in a relevant field (e.g., biology, immunology, molecular biology) with strong emphasis on human inflammatory and fibrotic diseases.
  • Extensive background in profiling human diseases and knowledge of translational models and patient-derived tissue studies.
  • Hands-on experience with single cell and spatial platforms (particularly spatial proteomics)
  • Proficient in designing and executing experimental wet lab work, with strong analytical method implementation.
  • Proven ability to lead and conduct research projects, working both independently and within a multidisciplinary team or matrix.
  • Strong problem-solving, critical-thinking, organizational, and communication skills, with adaptability to a dynamic research environment.


This is an on-site role based in Heidelberg, Germany, which is fully integrated into GSK's Research and Development (R&D) and located on the campus of the European Molecular Biology Laboratory (EMBL).
