Your role: As a a Formulation Expert (all genders) Cosmetics Pigments and Fillers, reporting to the Laboratory Manager (all genders), you will evaluate inorganic, substrate-based pigments and fillers while developing unique selling points for new pigments and functional fillers in cosmetics. Your daily responsibilities will include assessing properties such as color, handling, pay-off, texture, homogeneity, stability, and other optical effects. The creation of decorative products, such as eyeshadow and lipstick, along with demo tools, will help promote the portfolio

You should be familiar with basic analytical techniques, including rheology and microscopy, and be willing to advance objective scientific practices. Strong English communication skills will enable you to prepare reports, deliver presentations, and train customers.

Your agility and curiosity will drive the further development of our portfolio of pigments and functional fillers for cosmetic applications.

This position is based in Rhein-Main area, Industriepark Hoechst and involves frequent collaboration with an international network across the USA, Latin America, Asia, and Europe. The Surface Solutions business unit, a mid-sized multinational leader in the pigments industry, is subject to a planned divestment to the company Global New Materials International (GNMI), headquartered in China, as of August 1st 2025. This role will be part of the divestment.

Who you are:

  • Lab technician (all genders) or Bachelor’s in Chemistry/Cosmetic Science or a related field
  • Understanding and interest in Cosmetic Science and Color science
  • Knowledge of laboratory techniques for working at the bench with strong organizational, problem-solving, sense to details and analytical skills
  • Understanding of the principles of product evaluation, physical measurements and consumer testing as it applies to product formulation
  • Fluent English and German language skills
  • Presentation and collaboration skills
