The Position
The Opportunity
We are seeking an accomplished and visionary leader to oversee and drive strategically the operational direction of two of Roche’s largest and most impactful global sites. Both sites host more than 12,000 employees, and you will be responsible for a bigger amount of assets. This role focuses on ensuring safe, compliant, sustainable, and high-performing operations that align with Roche’s enterprise strategies.
The ideal candidate will combine deep operational expertise with transformational leadership to continuously optimize site operations, develop long-term strategic plans, and foster cross-functional collaboration across Roche’s global network.
Your Main Responsibilities
As the Head of Site Operations (m/w/d), you will:
Leadership and Governance

Take full responsibility for the end-to-end operational performance of two major Roche sites, ensuring alignment with corporate as well as divisional priorities and enterprise strategies.

Lead and execute long-term plans to strengthen organizational effectiveness, future readiness, and the sites’ overall contribution to Roche’s success.

Oversee critical operational areas including Asset Operations & Reliability (Facilities and Supply/Production Plants), Facility & Real Estate Management, Service Vendor Management and site infrastructure development, ensuring efficient, compliant, and sustainable operations.
Operational Excellence and Infrastructure Development

Develop and implement operational strategies that enhance the competitiveness of both sites. Regularly assess and optimize cost structures, resource allocations, and service delivery models to ensure efficiency and market leadership.

Actively ensure compliance with local and global laws, regulations, and Roche standards, safeguarding Roche’s right to operate through continuity planning, security, and sustainability practices.
Partnership and Collaboration

Ensure site operations are actively enabling Roche’s research, development, and manufacturing objectives.

Engage with leaders across Roche’s global site network to align strategies, share best practices, and foster a culture of collective innovation and operational alignment.
Team Leadership and Talent Development

Lead high-performing and future-ready teams, providing coaching and development opportunities to nurture strong leaders within your organization.

Maintain structured involvement of Roche’s technical functions, including Safety, IT, Environmental Health, and others, to ensure expert input in decision-making across all site activities.

Create strategies to strengthen organizational culture, fostering a collaborative, inclusive, and high-accountability environment aligned with Roche’s values.
Performance and Accountability

Define clear operational priorities and benchmarks, aligning Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) with site and enterprise goals.

Evaluate and monitor budgets, optimizing spending and resource utilization to ensure cost-effectiveness and long-term value creation.

Provide transparent, decision-ready reporting on site performance, project portfolio updates, and operational risks to support senior leadership in strategic steering.
Who You Are
-
A minimum of 15 years of senior leadership experience in Manufacturing Operations, Engineering, or related fields within or outside the healthcare industry.

Strong knowledge of the healthcare market, including biotech/diagnostics, is desired.

Fluency in both German and English.
Travel Frequency

Business trips will be required. Travel frequency will be roughly around 20%.
