Postdoc Digital Pathology/Computational Pathology (all genders)
YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Be responsible for annotating histologic and histopathologic morphologies on digitized histologic slides (whole slide images) as a central contribution to training and testing deep learning-based artificial intelligence algorithms for the detection and quantification of lesions
- Support the planning of annotation and testing steps for new algorithms
- Support the application of developed algorithms to existing dataset within a large research and development organization
- Contribute to the validation and further improvement of algorithms by comparing dataset results with routine histology diagnostics and immunohistochemical staining results
- Be part of a cross-organizational team and collaborate with scientists from machine learning research, biological research, and/or investigative toxicologic pathology
- Provide feedback on and improve the digital infrastructure used for the tasks listed above
WHO YOU ARE
- Pathologist (all genders), veterinary or human (board-certified specialization, e.g., ECVP, ACVP, Facharzt, or equivalent preferred)
- A PhD (all genders) or equivalent doctoral qualification in a relevant field
- Experience with digital pathology and image analysis (e.g., in Visiopharm, QuPath, or similar systems) is preferred
- Highly creative and strong problem-solving ability, as well as willingness to undertake challenging analysis tasks
- Ability to work effectively and independently in cross-functional teams
- Good communication and presentation capabilities
- Curiosity and passion for research
- Fluent in English
This position is limited to two years and located within the Pathology & Clinical Pathology department in Wuppertal.
