Purpose

Medical Science Liaison (MSL) is a pivotal field-based role that connects GSK to the healthcare community. This non-promotional, customer-facing position focuses on advancing clinical practice within an assigned territory to improve patient outcomes. As an integrated member of the MSL Pipeline team, MSL supports multiple pipeline assets and therapeutic areas according to evolving business and medical priorities. The MSL brings deep scientific and clinical expertise, together with market/landscape knowledge to engage with Healthcare Providers (HCPs) and account personnel, in alignment with GSK's medical strategies and plans.

Key objectives of MSL include engaging with various community and academic experts across the relevant pipeline therapeutic areas, including those at clinical trial sites, facilitating scientific exchange, and serving as a medical resource. These scientific interactions help healthcare providers, principal investigators, clinical trial site staff, and other decision-makers understand patient needs, the treatment landscape, pipeline assets, and the benefit-risk profile of GSK medicines. This supports evidence-based scientific understanding, the safe and appropriate use of GSK medicines and helps improve patient outcomes.

The MSL role is crucial for identifying disease and asset-related medical needs, ensuring the exchange of scientific knowledge, capturing and communicating medical insights, and enabling research and engaging clinical trial sites to advance clinical practice.

This role operates across assigned Specialty pipeline therapeutic areas, including Respiratory and Hepatology , with scope evolving in line with pipeline priorities. Candidates must currently reside in the territory to optimize the impact of the role and work life balance.

Key accountabilities

This role will provide YOU the opportunity to lead key activities to progress YOUR career.  These responsibilities include some of the following:

  • Leverage scientific expertise and market knowledge to identify and engage HCPs (including academic and community HCPs, and other healthcare professionals) who may have educational needs and can provide insights needed to inform medical plans.
  • Engage with HCPs on clinical and scientific data, clinical trials, medical unmet needs, patient barriers, and the evolving disease and treatment landscape, and provide education on disease state, pipeline assets and product information, as appropriate.
  • Contribute to medical strategy by collecting and communicating medical insights throughout the pipeline asset and product lifecycle and understanding the potential impact of these insights.
  • Demonstrate strategic territory planning and management, including the appropriate identification, mapping, and prioritization of scientific engagements with the key accounts and HCPs, aligned with medical strategy and evolving pipeline priorities. In addition, provide input into the assessment of clinical trial sites and develop site-specific engagement plans for relevant sites within the territory.
  • Support clinical trials by facilitating relevant medical activities and collaborating with Medical Affairs and Clinical Operations colleagues, including providing structured insights and feedback to strengthen site performance.
  • Build and strengthen strategic long-term partnerships with clinical trial sites.
  • Collaborate with internal colleagues (e.g., Medical Affairs, marketing, commercial, sales) to ensure a customer-centric approach aligned with GSK Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Understand and address the unique medical needs and attributes of accounts (e.g. educational needs, pathways).
  • Maintain in-depth knowledge of assigned therapeutic areas, assets and GSK medicines to serve as a medical resource to both customers and internal colleagues. Understand the evolving scientific and treatment landscape and prepare to address the educational needs of customers.
  • Adhere to GSK’s Code of Conduct, policies and standards, and relevant ways of working documents. Ensure all activities are conducted in a compliant manner, reflecting GSK's commitment to transparency, respect, integrity, and patient focus.
