Senior Principal Scientist Cheminformatics (m/f/d)

YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Advance drug discovery projects using cutting-edge cheminformatics, data science, and machine learning approaches to enable data-driven decision-making
  • Enable successful lead finding campaigns through library design, cheminformatic analysis of multi-source screening data, and fostering data-driven hit-to-lead progression
  • Enlarge accessible chemical space by developing and leveraging algorithms for virtual screening and analyses in virtual spaces
  • Enable AI-augmented Design-Make-Test-Analysis cycles by advancing and applying methods for in-silico compound design and characterization
  • Lead the cross-functional, self-organized cheminformatics team, matching project demands with cheminformatic capabilities
  • Collaborate closely with the Data Science and AI cluster to ensure projects leverage next-generation, fit-for-purpose technologies via a sustainable infrastructure.
  • Cultivate a strong internal and external network to access the latest developments and promote scientific excellence
  • Lead strategic digital initiatives and advocate for shaping the R&D digital strategy
  • Share your skills, knowledge, and enthusiasm by coaching and teaching others, while demonstrating collaborative and supportive behaviors

WHO YOU ARE

  • PhD in cheminformatics, computational chemistry, bioinformatics, computer science, or a related discipline, ideally with a strong knowledge of organic chemistry
  • Long-term industrial experience with a proven track record of impactful contributions to projects in active ingredient research using cheminformatics and related approaches
  • Proficiency in common cheminformatics toolkits, applied machine learning, programming languages, pipelining, and data analysis software
  • Experience in implementing, debugging, and maintaining tools, demonstrating knowledge of a broad spectrum of cheminformatics methodologies
  • Familiarity with additional skills such as molecular modeling, quantum chemistry, or high-performance computing is advantageous
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, learning agility, and a strong team player with the ability to collaborate effectively in a multidisciplinary environment
  • Ability to embrace VITAL Principles: align your work with the organizational vision, continuously improve processes and outcomes, contribute expertise to high-priority projects, foster peer accountability, and maintain transparent communication across all levels
  • Curiosity, creativity, and a passion for drug discovery, with the aim of changing treatment paradigms for patients
  • Fluent in English (written and spoken), with strong communication skills to present complex data clearly and effectively
