Your Role: An exciting new opportunity has arisen to join OT team at Life Science as sector OT Solution Architect. You will be responsible to lead the strategic OT Solution Architecture pilar for the ISCO network of 50+ manufacturing sites. In collaboration with the site OT teams, peers from other sectors, sector and corporate IT. You will be responsible to drive standardization and blueprinting of OT systems and their integration with IT infrastructure and play a crucial role in Merck’s vision of a connected plant. You will be leading OT Architecture CoP(s) with sites to link customer voices to global programs and projects to improve our digital infrastructure and implement a OT Architecture governance. You will be interacting with other core OT pillars such as OT Service and Lifecycle Management, OT Program and Portfolio Management, and OT Cybersecurity. You will also be interacting with corporate IT infrastructure and IT application teams, as well as corporate security teams. The role is key to deliver scalable, secure, and efficient connectivity within OT while driving standardization throughout all deployed solutions. The connectivity will set foundation for data exchange with IT systems and act as an enabler for our Industry 4.0 ambition. The position will require approx 10% of travels.
Key responsibilities are:
- Develop and implement a global OT technology strategy, standards and architecture guidelines
- Lead the design and architecture of OT solutions and develop target architectures that comply with risk management and service continuity requirements
- Evaluate new IT/OT technologies and make recommendations for their implementation
- Train and support IT teams on OT technology and architecture best practices (own the knowledge base)
- Implement cybersecurity controls in OT system designs as per IT/OT security standard
Who You Are
- Graduate degree in industrial automation (or equivalent)
- Several years (ideally 15+) of experience in OT (manufacturing required, lab optional)
- Several years (ideally 7+) of experience in integration of OT systems to IT infrastructure
- Hands-on experience in corporate IT/OT technology and architecture management
- Domain knowledge in:
- Manufacturing: Understanding of industrial processes, machinery, and control systems
- OT Systems: Including IO, PLC, HMI, SCADA, DCS, Historians and MES/EBR
- IT/OT Convergence: Expertise in integrating OT systems into IT infrastructure
- Industrial Networks: Fieldbus protocols, network architecture principles, ISA-99
- Security: Knowledge of cybersecurity best practices for industrial environments
- Solution Design: Ability to design and implement OT solutions that meet operational requirements
- Compliance: Understanding of industry regulations and compliance standards related to OT
- Communication Skills: Strong communication skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders
- Experience in GxP environments beneficial
- Ability to interact with senior management in a matrix organization
- Ability to develop long term vision and strategic decision making
- Ability to orchestrate and lead external partners and internal teams
