
Master Chemistry (m/f/d) in Chemistry R&D Diagnostics with focus on Oligonucleotide synthesis

The Position
Department/Team
We create chemistry! Based on modern analytical methods and synthesis procedures we design and develop a great variety of chemical assay components for Dia and Pharma. With our domain knowledge and our wide spectrum of methods, we also accompany the whole lifecycle of active diagnotics ingredients.
We provide in “Chemistry Technologies” a full spectrum of chemical technologies from small molecules to biooligomers and polymers to find the right solutions for diagnostic questions and beyond. We design tailor-made molecules and develop lab scale procedures to provide a competitive advantage for our products.
Your Key Responsibilities

Personally conducting chemical syntheses in the laboratory and providing challenging nucleotides and nucleotide conjugates in high quality

Synthesis, isolation, purification (RP-HPLC and IEX in particular), characterization and functional evaluation of chemical and biochemical molecules

Handling of challenging chemical and physical methods for characterization of synthesis products and in-process-controls (e.g. HPLC, LC-MS, UV-Vis, NMR)

Optimization and scaling of established synthetic processes and transfer to production

Adhering to internal and external guidelines regarding occupational safety, environmental protection, and quality management is crucial in these tasks

Additionally, your activities include taking on general departmental duties, such as equipment maintenance
Who you are
● You have completed a university Master’s degree in chemistry
● You are an expert in preparative organic synthesis and oligonucleotide synthesis as well as in the purification of synthesis products and your special knowledge you have collected over at least the last 3 years
● You have experience with non-standard nucleotide building blocks and with large scale, high quality nucleotide synthesis
● At the same time, you bring good knowledge in nucleic acids, excellent chemical knowledge, and basic knowledge in biochemistry
● You are strong in communication, both in German and English
● To build a network, you know how to use and maintain your contacts to establish a good relationship of trust
● You also place a high value on good teamwork to find the best solutions
This position is limited to 2 years.
