The Opportunity
This position works out of our Neustadt am Rbge. Abbott Laboratories GmbH location.
Primary Function
The Associate Business Consultant serves as the strategic interface between the Safety business function and IT. This role ensures alignment of IT capabilities with business objectives, regulatory requirements, and technology trends. The consultant translates business strategy into actionable IT initiatives, drives solution delivery, and influences IT roadmaps to meet evolving business needs. The role requires deep understanding of pharmacovigilance (PV) processes, global safety regulations, and GxP compliance standards.
Core Responsibilities
- Act as a trusted advisor for Safety and Pharmacovigilance business functions, ensuring IT solutions meet regulatory and compliance requirements (e.g., GxP, EMA, FDA).
- Monitor regulatory changes and assess their impact on IT systems supporting Safety processes.
- Lead requirements gathering and solution design for safety-related applications, ensuring data integrity and compliance.
- Develop business cases including cost estimates, justification, and risk mitigation strategies for Safety IT initiatives.
- Broker IT services across functional areas, resolve escalations, and maintain executive-level stakeholder alignment.
- Manage vendor relationships for safety systems and ensure contractual compliance and performance.
- Drive change management and training activities to ensure successful adoption of new safety systems.
- Contribute to IT strategy formulation and influence technology direction for Safety and PV domains.

- Exercises considerable autonomy in determining objectives and priorities
- Accountable for delivering solutions that impact critical safety processes and systems
- Responsible for decisions with significant financial and operational implications
- Influences organizational objectives and long-term IT strategy
- Supports global pharmacovigilance compliance initiatives
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in one of the following fields: Engineering, Computer Science, Life Sciences Or a related discipline
Experience & Skills
- Typically 5–8 years of IT experience in a multinational environment
- Proven expertise in:
- Business relationship management
- Project leadership
- Regulatory compliance
- Experience in pharmacovigilance or safety systems is preferred
- Strong skills in:
- Communication
- Stakeholder engagement
- Vendor management
