ABOUT OUR PROGRAM
Now in its third consecutive year, the Finance Advanced Studies Program is designed for high‑potential master's students who thrive in fast‑paced environments and bring an analytical, innovative mindset.
This program is ideal for individuals aspiring to build a dynamic finance career in the healthcare industry. Participants gain hands‑on experience through carefully structured project assignments, supported by mentorship from Abbott’s Finance leadership team. The program provides real‑world strategic exposure and the opportunity to contribute to impactful financial initiatives across our global operations.
Designed to complement students’ academic schedules and areas of focus, the program offers advanced finance assignments in the following areas:
- Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A)
- Controlling & Business Partnering
- Treasury & Corporate Finance
- Accounting, Compliance & Internal Controls
Projects are structured to empower participants to develop innovative, data‑driven solutions to real financial challenges. Each assignment provides meaningful impact while offering deep insights into the financial backbone of a global healthcare leader.
PROGRAM OVERVIEW
- Duration: 6 months – typically March to August
- Location: Basel, Switzerland
- Includes structured onboarding, networking events, and a final presentation to senior leaders
- Access to finance leadership, dedicated mentors, career advisory, and cross‑functional touchpoints
- Virtual development sessions and global networking opportunities
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Currently enrolled in an university master's program
- Strong analytical mindset and motivation to work in a fast‑paced, collaborative environment
- Demonstrated experience or academic focus in finance, economics, business administration, accounting, risk, or related areas
- Excellent analytical, problem‑solving, and communication skills
- Demonstrated interest in building a career in corporate finance or financial leadership
- Global mindset with demonstrated curiosity and initiative
- Geographic flexibility to be present in Basel
