Protein Design Product Owner

What you will do

Let’s do this. Let’s change the world. Within Amgen’s Research and Development organization, the Therapeutic Protein Design (TPD) team supports the broad goal of advancing and applying computational protein design to revolutionize how biologic therapeutics are made.

In this vital role you will own protein design as a product, building the planning structures and workflow organization tools required to support a cross - functional team of scientists and engineers that are engaged in building and applying frontier models for protein design. You will :

  • Take big picture responsibility, capturing requirements and building roadmaps to ensure the team knows exactly what to build next.

  • Balance team resources between two critical types of deliverable : the platform tools we use, and the therapeutic molecules we develop for patients.

  • Build automations to capture, organize, and communicate work both for the team and for leadership .

  • Collaborate with computational and experimental scientists to establish these processes a s a foundation of the discovery pipeline.

  • Work towards individual ownership and a leadership role in building how Amgen delivers results.

Basic Qualifications:

Doctorate degree
OR
Master’s degree and 2 years of product ownership experience
OR
Bachelor’s degree and 4 years of product ownership experience
OR
Associate’s degree and 8 years of product ownership experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with product ownership related to machine learning or therapeutic development , and advanced education in one of the following: Software Engineering, Computer Science, Computational Biology

  • A strong background in workflow planning

  • Experience building automations for workflow tracking tools like Jira

  • Familiarity with UNIX/Linux, Python, PyTorch , Git, and cloud computing platforms

  • Experience working with biological data, and in applications of machine learning to computational biology

  • Familiarity with  protein design workflows

  • Strong communication , project management and technical leadership skills with an enthusiasm for working in an interdisciplinary team environment.

The expected annual salary range for this role in the U.S. (excluding Puerto Rico) is posted. Actual salary will vary based on several factors including but not limited to, relevant skills, experience, and qualifications.
