
Senior Category Manager - Transient & Travel
The Position

Tasks & responsibilities
- In this role, you will develop and implement global sourcing strategies for transient travel, including airlines, travel management companies (TMCs), hotels, rental cars, and ground transport. Your efforts will ensure long-term cost efficiency and sustainability across all travel-related operations.
- You will take the lead in executing global RFPs and negotiating complex, high-value contract to secure competitive terms and reliable service delivery.
- Collaborating closely with stakeholders, you will define requirements, select providers, and ensure that sourcing solutions align with the business needs and expectations of our organization.
- Managing supplier relationships will be a key aspect of your role. You will identify new partners, evaluate their performance, and ensure strategic alignment.
- To ensure business continuity, you will assess potential risks and work hand-in-hand with local teams to mitigate supply disruptions.
- Your commitment to operational excellence will shine as you support global implementation projects, align with GBS PPM and TMCs, and continuously improve processes through benchmarking and feedback.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Business Administration, Procurement, Travel Management, or a related field
- Several years of experience in global category management, specifically in travel procurement (e.g., airlines, TMCs, hotels)
- Strong expertise in sourcing strategy, complex contract negotiations, and supplier relationship management
- Hands-on experience with travel tools and platforms such as CONCUR, GDS systems, and hotel RFP tools like Cvent or Lanyon
- Deep understanding of TMC operations and the connection between transient travel and MICE categories
- Fluently in English; German or other languages are a plus
