Your role
As Senior Scientist Computational Oncology in the Research Unit Oncology, you will join a team of highly motivated scientists dedicated to discovering the cancer drugs of tomorrow. You will analyze multi-modal data derived from patients and from various experimental model systems to generate novel drug target hypotheses and advance our understanding of the therapeutic targets. Directly supporting our Oncology projects and therapeutic concepts, you will draw from your deep understanding of the underlying biology (tumor biology and/or tumor immunology), expertise in data analysis methods and robust coding skills. As you operate at the intersection of biology and data science, you will generate insights from complex datasets for scientists without coding skills and contribute to the digital literacy within your department. You will interact closely with the R&D bioinformaticians and work in cross-functional drug discovery teams as well as external collaborations.
Who you are
- PhD in Biology, Biotechnology, Molecular Medicine, Bioinformatics or related discipline
- Two years minimum postdoctoral research experience in industry, ideally in drug discovery
- Thorough understanding of oncology in at least one of the following areas: cancer cell signaling, antibody drug conjugates and/or tumor immunology
- Extensive, hands-on programming experience for biological data analysis (R or Python) including maintenance of code quality and documentation (e.g. Git)
- Hands-on experience analyzing and interpreting DNA- and RNA-seq data; expertise in single cell and spatial profiling methodologies including data analysis approaches is a plus
- Excellent written and spoken English skills
- Excellent team player, eager to work in multidisciplinary teams
