We are looking for an Accountant for Germany and Austria (DE & AT) who is detail-oriented, collaborative, and passionate about financial accuracy and compliance to join our Finance team at UCB, based out of our office in Monheim, Germany .

About the Role

As a subject matter expert within the Finance organization, you will take responsibility for specific activities within the Record to Report and compliance stream. You will work within established procedures, presenting and discussing results, and suggesting improvements to existing processes. Your scope includes supporting all local compliance obligations, managing local financial statements, and maintaining relationships with local banks.

Who You’ll Work With

You will report to the local Finance Manager and collaborate closely with the local and global UCB Finance Team, outsourced accounting and compliance partners (including Big 4 firms), internal and external auditors, local compliance/tax specialists, and treasury and banking partners in Germany and Austria. You will build strong, transparent relationships across these groups, ensuring effective communication and collaboration.

What You’ll Do

  • Ensure timely and accurate month-end and year-end group reporting in line with Group requirements (IFRS).
  • Prepare and review financial statements in accordance with German GAAP.
  • Support internal and external audits as required.
  • Oversee adherence to local compliance frameworks (Bundesbank reporting, Intrastat, Sanction screening, Customs, etc.).
  • Complete reconciliations and implement action plans to resolve issues.
  • Test and ensure adherence to global internal controls.
  • Identify and implement process improvements, including leveraging new technologies.
  • Support global finance projects as needed.
  • Prepare national bank and related reports for Germany.
  • Manage banking processes and relationships for Austria and Germany.
  • Oversee order to cash management, including customer account reconciliation and dunning processes.
  • Provide ad-hoc financial reports as required.

Interested? For this role we’re looking for:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or economics
  • 3–5 years of relevant professional accounting experience, ideally in complex international companies
  • Strong technical accounting skills (German GAAP essential; IFRS a plus) and advanced Excel/SAP proficiency
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and collaboration skills in a multicultural environment
  • Fluent in German & English
