Patient Affairs Lead Dermatology
Make your mark for patients
We are looking for a Patient Affairs Lead Dermatology who is a results-oriented, patient-centric leader that merges strategic advocacy with operational business acumen. You set impulses, develop enablement materials, steer interfaces, and take ownership for outcomes. This is not an operational support function, but a role for those who want to shape, steer, and create real impact. You will deliver solutions, drive strategy, and lead engagement & advocacy in Dermatology as an individual contributor with no direct reports. This is a chance to leave your mark, take ownership of a therapeutic area, and help build a team that reflects UCB´s ambition to make an impact for patients. If you´re bold, driven and working independently is in your genes, this is the role for you. We are looking for a visionary doer with the horsepower to make things happen. Not sure if you tick every box? For us, being bold means giving it a try if you are driven to make an impact. The team welcomes colleagues who bring energy and initiative.
About the role:
At UCB, patients are at the heart of everything we do. As Patient Affairs Lead, you will drive and implement our integrated patient strategy across the full product lifecycle in Dermatology. You will combine pre-launch advocacy with post-launch solutions, ensuring patient needs and insights are embedded in our strategies and translated into measurable outcomes for patients and the company. As a strategic networker and bridge builder, you connect market, patients, and field force—enabling collaboration, operational excellence, and value creation for all stakeholders.
Who you’ll work with:
You will be a key member of UCB’s Patient Affairs Team in Germany, collaborating closely with peers across therapeutic areas. The team formed this year, is vocal and collaborative – a place where ideas are actively discussed, challenged, and refined – not just signed off, and where executional excellence matters just as much as strategy. You’ll engage directly with patients, caregivers, organizations, umbrella associations, and external stakeholders, ensuring their voices shape every initiative. Cross-functional collaboration with Medical Affairs, Market Access, Public Affairs, Clinical Development, and the field force—plus coordination with global and local stakeholders—will be essential to align strategies and deliver operational excellence.
What you’ll do:
- Deliver patient-focused solutions and initiatives with operational excellence and measurable business impact
- Be the primary voice and advocate for patients, amplifying their perspectives and driving meaningful change
- Develop and implement strategic enablement materials and processes
- Drive excellence in execution by defining processes & KPIs, harmonizing communication, and ensuring consistent patient positioning and branding
- Build and sustain strong, trust-based partnerships with patient organizations and key stakeholders
- Challenge decisions that do not align with patient interests, while enabling and advocating for solutions that reflect patient priorities
- Ensure scientific quality, appropriateness, and compliance in all patient-related activities
- Collaborate across functions and geographies to align strategies and maximize outcomes
Interested? For this role we’re looking for:
- Master’s degree in life sciences, healthcare, or related field preferred; equivalent training (e.g., “Pharmareferent”) or proven experience accepted
- 5–7 years’ experience in healthcare or related business
- Strong empathy and interpersonal skills to build trust and engage effectively with patients and stakeholders
- Proven ability as a networker and bridge builder across diverse stakeholders
- Solid business acumen and operational leadership experience
- Goal-oriented mindset with strong decision-making skills for measurable impact
- Ability to embrace change with flexibility and openness
- Creative, solution-driven approach with strong problem-solving skills
- Confidence to challenge and influence decisions at all organizational levels
- Proficiency in cross-functional teamwork, project management, and operational execution
- Experience in patient engagement, advocacy, and solution development
- Knowledge of market access, healthcare policy, and HTA processes (a plus)
- Familiarity with compliance and legal frameworks for patient collaborations
- Fluency in German and English
